In this research, in a nutshell, we would be looking at the nature of evolution of ecological strategies like cooperation, defection, and punishment in a network. Cooperation here is the willingness to incure a cost for a mutual shared benefit. In other words, an agent cooperating with another would agree to incure a cost for the other agent to accrue some benefit with the hopes that the other agent cooperates as well. If the other agent refuses to cooperate, then that is called defection - given that the agent benefits at no cost at all. Punishment is a strategy employed to make another agent incure a cost. Sometimes punishment could be costly. This is called costly punishment. In this case, the other agent incurs a heavy cost but the punisher also pays a bit for this action as well. We are curious to investigate what factors, parameters, and influences affect evolution of these strategies in different types of networks.
